When I moved to California, one of the first things I did was find a San Diego chiropractor that I felt comfortable with. I did this before looking for a doctor, a dentist, and even a hair stylist, because this is the person who is most important in my day to day life. I was involved in a car accident when I was younger, and my parents opted to have chiropractic care for me rather than a surgeon’s care, since that is what the hospitalist that I had seen had recommended. Even my primary doctor thought surgery was the best route.
My parents did a lot of research on back surgeries, and they were just not happy with the odds given for success rates. They asked about chiropractic care because of everything they had read about the alternatives, and my doctor gave the okay for that. I have been under a chiropractor’s care ever since, even though that was nearly 14 years ago now. I don’t continue to see one because I still have problems with my back though. All of my back issues had disappeared within months of seeing my first chiropractor.
What I realized when I stopped going though was that I did not feel as good as when I went. It was not because of my back injury, because it was just an overall feeling. My folks had told me that this might happen because chiropractic care does so much more than just help back injuries. It rejuvenates a person all the way through their entire body, so I started going back every couple of months to have an adjustment done. My parents even started going after they saw the change in me, and that is why it was so important for me to find a chiropractor as soon as I got settled in.
